My name is Danny, I grew up in Logan, Ut. I didn't actually start climbing until I moved to Washington in 1998. I took a summer job at Mt. Rainier National Park. I have spent a lot of time in the outdoors but I have never actually had the income nor the time to start technical climbing. My first climb involving a rope was on Little Tahoma, we made the summit in the middle of a electrical storm. With electricity buzzing above us and dark storm clouds all around us we quickly ran back to camp for cover. Although Little Tahoma is not a very difficult climb it was an amazing experience for me. The next week I climbed Mt. Rainier and quickly became obsessed with these majestic peaks.
Ever since, climbing has been the main focus for my weekends. I eventually saved enough money (cams are not cheap) to start alpine rock climbing which has now become my favorite form of climbing. Alpine climbing gives me an excuse to spend more time deep in the wilderness with a far away summit to be reached. It's much different and more rewarding than spending a day at the nearest crag, although I enjoy sport climbing as well.
