Deming/Coleman Glacier (kind of an attempt), Grade II
- Gear Used:
- ice axe
- crampons
- 60 meter glacier rope
Well, this climb never even got close to happening. A group of us all pilled into 2 cars and drove through the rain to the heliotope ridge trail head. The plan was to practice crevasse rescue and glacier travel as we are all planning on climbing Mt. Rainier in a couple of weeks. We were completely soaked before we even finished packing. After some discussion and a bit of frustration from group dynamics we decided to forget about it and just go for a day hike. This is not something that I would usually agree with but when dealing with 5 other people you just have to kind of give in. I was pretty frustrated hiking up the trail without my gear and knowing that the main goal will not be reached. Did I mention it never stopped raining! I still had a good time with good friends and that's what it is all about. Right?
