The Hike

Lacey and I left rainy Seattle behind hoping for some sun on the east side of the cascades. As usual, once we made it to Tumwater Canyon over Stevens Pass the rain cleared and the sun came out. We decided on Stuart Lake as it is a pretty mellow hike and neither of us have been there before. I have been about 2 miles up the trail a ton of times as it is the shared approach for Colchuck Lake.

It was great to see the other side of Colchuck Peak and Dragontail Peak, not to mention the massive north side of Mt. Stuart. The weather was nice and cool on the whole hike as clouds blocked the sun and threatened with rain.

Stuart Lake
Beautiful meadows surrounded by magnificent peaks.

After reaching the lake with both jumped in to the crystal blue waters (this has become a habit of mine). If the sun was out it would of felt great but the cold air and clouds made for a quick retreat back to dry rock. After about 20 minutes at the lake the rain started to fall. We packed up to start heading back but after 10 minutes we were both soaked to the bone. I guess you can only escape the Seattle rain for so long.
