The Drive

The normal two in a half hour drive over HWY 2.

The Climb

I finally made it to the Off Duty area! Every attempt that i've made I end up getting distracted by all the other climbing near by. We didn't climb as much as I would have liked but we ended up getting a couple good climbs in.

Straight Street, 5.9***

Pitch 1

10 bolts

We started off with this great 2 pitch route. It starts off on a slab and climbs the right hand arete. It has some continues technical climbing right from the start. Up higher you climb into a inside corner system which requires some funky stemming moves. A 2 bolt anchor is located underneath a roof and 100 feet from the ground.

Pitch 2

3 bolts gear to 2 inches

Pull the roof and move over to the arete again clipping about 3 bolts. More thin slab moves gain some cracks that traverse to the great undercling finish! The undercling is great but to short.

We did to rappels back to the ground.

Off Duty, 5.10a****

7 bolts gear to 2 inches

This is a fun slab climb that meanders it's way up the center of the slab. Good crimpy climbing the whole way up! The crux for me was getting over the small roof. I think I placed 3 small cams in route one of them being a 2 inch cam at the roof.

A 60 meter rope barley makes for a top rope. There are two separate anchors about 10 feet apart. I used the lower ones to make sure we could reach bottom.
